Welcome to the Historical Music Periods and their Forms website. It's aim is intended to support the AP music student in their quest for learning by introducing each student to the different musical periods of western music, its forms and composers as well as helping them successfully complete the AP exam. Make a Timeline
Students will create a timeline giving a brief overview of all five of the musical periods in western music: Early Music, Medieval/Renaissance, Baroque, Classica, Romantic and Modern (20th century) to present using the given rubric as a guide. From this information, the student will choose one period from their timeline and go on to the next activity

Research on Composer
Students will do research on one composer from the period that they have chosen and design a PowerPoint presentation on that composer using the given rubric.

Form and Analysis
Students will choose one work/movement form the composer they have chosen and do an analytical study emphasizing form and historical background of the selected piece using the given rubric.
