Course Description

Wind Ensemble – Prerequisites: Intermediate/Advanced playing experience is required, one year of Concert Band or equivalent is mandatory.  Enrolment by course instructor only.

The San Marino Wind Ensemble is an audition only group that performs grade IV – V and is open to all students who desire to perform the highest caliber traditional wind band music.  Auditions are held in May of each year for the following school year.  Concurrent enrollment in Marching Band is expected.  This group performs at numerous concerts throughout the year including the holiday concert, spring concert and pops concert as well as taking a spring musical concert tour. Past accomplishments include superior performances at district and regional SCSBOA music festivals and winning the High Music, Gold Rating and Sweepstakes Award at the Heritage Music Festival in Orlando, Florida and London, England. In 2007 the group participated in a musical performance tour of Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic.  This group meets for two consecutive semesters per year.
